Brendan Hart ’17 found Plymouth State University to be the perfect springboard for launching various endeavors. PSU provided him with professional skills, a supportive community, and a horizon of opportunities for which he is thankful today.

His studies in communications and French enabled him to study abroad in Montréal and pursue a two-year master’s degree in France. Plymouth State University facilitated these opportunities and helped him find a career that aligns with his interests and studies.

Regarding community involvement, Brendan was a member of the Skatepark of Plymouth nonprofit group during his student years. Although he played a minor role, being part of the team allowed him to understand how nonprofits operate and achieve their goals. This experience inspired him to launch a project to rebuild his hometown’s skatepark in Meredith, New Hampshire. The four-year project, featured on NHPR, culminated in the inauguration of a new concrete skatepark and fostered a strong sense of community in the small lakeside town.

Brendan reflects on his years at PSU with nostalgia and gratitude. He remembers his professors as caring and passionate, and his classmates as engaged with their work and futures. Amidst memories of falling golden leaves and hikes in the mighty White Mountains, Brendan found PSU to be a university that can open students to the breadth of the world, all from a small, bustling, community-driven New Hampshire town.
