Finance Club Goes “Bell to Bell” on Wall Street
Highlights included learning about NYSE’s history and operations and regarding the technology-driven future of finance while touring Nasdaq, whose highly watched Composite Index is heavily weighted in tech stocks.
Both exchanges featured networking opportunities with industry professionals, giving PSU students a deeper understanding of market dynamics and career paths and positioning them for future internships and jobs. Finance major Ronja Dahlin ’25 said, “The opportunity to learn from finance professionals and immerse myself in such top-performing environments was invaluable.”
The trip was coordinated by Guy Wisinski ’85, development officer for PSU, Ledice Sweeney P’26, vice president for equity trading with American Veterans Group, and Kendall Wisinski, account manager with Nasdaq. Enroute to Wall Street, students stayed the night nearby in Connecticut, dining and networking at the Country Club of New Canaan compliments of club GM/COO Kevin Lalumiere ’99.
“This trip offered our students an unparalleled opportunity to see theory discussed in the classroom come to life,” said Finance Professor Christina Bradbury. “Engaging directly with industry professionals and experiencing the energy of the trading floor was both inspiring and educational. It is crucial for our students, many of whom are first-generation college students, to witness what is possible as they prepare for careers in the continuously evolving field of finance.”
PSU’s Cluster Learning Model gives students practical knowledge to thrive in the global marketplace and transformative experiences like these shape students’ academics, setting the stage for vibrant careers. Alumni are encouraged to engage with the University’s School of Business and the Finance Club, offering mentorship and guidance to current students. For prospective students, these opportunities provide a glimpse into how PSU helps graduates succeed in competitive industries.
